Proxy Voting and Voting Rights

Colonial First State Investments Limited (CFSIL), as the responsible entity, appoints investment managers that are empowered to take responsibility for all aspects of corporate governance in relation to the assets held by Colonial First State’s funds.

CFSIL’s policy on voting has the following principles:

  • An investment manager appointed to manage a managed investment scheme has the entitlement to vote on resolutions affecting individual investments.
  • The investment manager is obliged to act in the best interests of all unit holders in the managed investment scheme.
  • CFSIL generally does not seek to influence the investment manager’s vote and, in certain circumstances, is prohibited from doing so.
  • CFSIL does not engage a proxy adviser to advise on the exercise of voting rights.
