“Cycling in my life, I love how it’s physically challenging, it’s mentally challenging, and it’s strategically
challenging. I love that I can ride with my mates. I love it.
I’ve been lucky to have a lot of highlights over my career, first as a road cyclist riding the Giro D’Italia, or the women’s Giro Donne it Italy on the Australian National Team. I’ve been 3 times Cyclo-cross Australian Champion as well. Cyclo-cross is a winter sport, it’s like a cross
between road cycling and mountain biking.
It’s been a real balancing act juggling an elite cycling career and my day job as a corporate lawyer. Stopping professional cycling wasn’t entirely my choice – I struggled to recover from a big season in Europe and my body just said that enough was enough.
The next chapter is going to be all about adventure, riding with my mates, riding for fun, maybe following some of the great trails blazed by some of our early female cyclists. Since I retired from competitive cycling it’s freed up more time to devote to my job as a lawyer and also to blogging on my website ridehappy.com.au.
I will always ride my bike and I love it too much to stop”.
