Hudson Irwin’s path to Australian National Artistic Gymnastics Champion is paved with persistence.
Having taken a liking to Artistic Gymnastics in his younger years, it was at the age of 12 that he and his mum began taking the weekly seven-hour round trips from their hometown of Horsham to Melbourne. This commitment allowed Hudson to take a more professional approach to his training.
For two years, they acquainted themselves with the Western Highway before Hudson made the tough decision to move to Melbourne on a full-time basis at the age of 14. That decision has paid dividends, with Hudson having medalled for Australia in the Austria Future Cup, becoming U15 & U16 Australian National Champion (2015/16) in the process.
This year sees him training at the Gymnastics Queensland High Performance Centre in Brisbane and continuing to compete internationally, with global exposure and experience vital for his development.
