At Colonial First State, we’re working hard to deliver even better outcomes for members so you can save more for your retirement. Options in our FirstChoice superannuation fund have delivered strong long-term performance for members, according to recent a report from Chant West, a leading research firm. In addition, we have recently been awarded the Canstar Provider of the Year award for managed funds.

- FirstChoice Moderate is the number one option in its category of 41-60% growth assets over the last 10 years, with the survey showing annualised returns of 8.8%, compared to the median of 7.6%.
- The FirstChoice Growth option ranked third of 58 options in the category of 61-80% growth assets over 10 years, with the survey showing annualised returns of 9.8%, compared to the median of 8.9%.
What does this mean for our members?
Market ups and downs can cause sharp changes in superannuation balances over shorter periods and we saw this at the end of last year. The positive news for members in these options who have remained invested for longer periods is that they have benefited from the strong long term performance, as highlighted by Chant West.
Canstar award for Managed Funds
We are also pleased to announce that we’ve been awarded Canstar’s 2019 Provider of the Year for Managed Funds.
